The hiking trip!

Last Saturday was one of the best days on Bonaire!!
Because the past week was so intense I really had to get out of my normal weekend routine of going to the local bar, washing my clothes and going to the supermarket. Luckily I wasn’t the only one with that idea, some of my friends from the CIEE* did so too *(an American marine biology research institute). We hired a truck for a day to do what we all love to do: hiking, diving, relaxing at the beach and going out.
We started our trip early, at 08:00, to fill the truck with all our diving gear and plenty of drinks. With 2 guys and 6 chicks we hit the road with the highest mountain in the Netherlands as our destination: The Brandaris(240). The Brandaris is in the National Park of Bonaire: Washington Slagbaai. The bumpy road and the sun burning on the car made this an adventure in itself. To our surprise we hiked the Brandaris in less than an hour and when we arrived at the top we decided that it was time for a beer.
After the important pictures to prove that we were really at the top we went back for the next adventure. Diving at one of the few divesites in the National Park: Wayaka. Wayaka beach is such an amazing beach so we decided to relax some before going into the water. The dive was great! Saw some nice corals and fishes, although the girls thought it was not that special.. I guess that happens when you dive almost every day.. Before we left the National Park we went to cliff jump, which is pretty awesome! I look like a monkey on the picture though… On the way back some people decided to drop their hats out of the car several times so we had to stop more than once After a quick nap and a drink at the house we all gathered again to have dinner at the local Peruvian restaurant. The food was great and there were lots of stories to be told about all the stuff that had happened that day. To finish this awesome day we drove to a deserted beach and, while laying on the hood of the car, watched the stars with a beer. It was the best!
